About the Author - Andrew Marsh

Andrew Marsh
March 2004

I am a 40 year old engineering geologist and was raised in Sussex. Studying geology and engineering geology in the midlands and north east, I settled in Glasgow in late 1986 working for a traditional engineering consultancy.

My work has taken me throughout the UK on projects ranging from small housing schemes to major re-developments, bridges, dams, rail, road and motorways, dockyards, pipelines, retail parks and many other. This work varied from office studies and reporting to the construction phase.

The highlight of my geological career came in 1996 when I spent a year in Brunei working in the tropical rain forest for a water supply project. I lived in a tent on a camp with up to 30 men from other nationalities, a truly exhilarating experience.

During my career, I have worked with many fascinating people and have collected and been part of many humorous and interesting events. The Long And Winding Road 'began' as a single dramatic sketch, 'the crash'. The idea developed with the various key characters and built up the layers of the story, the conflict and humour.
